Nightmares

We are learning to make our writing exciting. We wrote about a nightmare we had and then illustrated our writing using 'do ink'. Check out the cool illustrations and stories that these children managed to complete!

I had a nightmare. When I had a nightmare I dreamt about a scary monster. It tried to catch me. It was at my home. The monster came up on the roof. I was frightened. I called for help. I was so so scared. It was dark.

One night I had a nightmare at my home. I was sleeping in my bed. It was all about a monster and me. The monster was chasing me all around the house then I got tired. The monster wasn't tired then he caught me. He put me in a big cage then I couldn't get out.

Calendar Artwork

We had a day of art today. We sketched some flowers from the hanging baskets outside. We used crayons to make rubbings and then we dyed our flowers. I wonder who whether anyone will order a calendar? I hope parents have enough time as our notices went home late!

Broad Bean Update

Last week we replanted our broad bean seeds. After we had seen how a seed germinates we thought the seeds might grow faster with some soil. We replanted the seeds in soil and some us have noticed that our seeds already have more little roots. Jackson's seed has a green shoot emerging from the soil.

Water Safety

We went to our second water safety lesson. This time we were divided into four groups. Some of us learnt to use milk bottles to float. Some of us practised floating in our life jackets and pulling our knees up to keep ourselves warm. Some of us practised making starfishes.

Flowers and Dye

On Friday we put some white lillies into jugs full of coloured water. Look what has happened to the flowers? What has happened? Why? How did the colour get on the petals?

Do Ink

We used doink.com today to make some animations showing how a plant grows from a seed. Watch how we made the roots grow first then the shoot, leaves and some of us even made a flower.

Water Safety

Gymnastics

Yesterday we did some gymnastics for P.E. We used the swiss balls, the beam, the balance balls and more. It was great fun and we learnt some new skills.

Broad Bean Seeds

Last week we plant one broad bean seed each. We planted them in paper towels so we can see the seed germinate. Look! This week we noticed that some of our seeds are sprouting little roots!

Tissue Flowers

Here is Lincoln's recount about our language experience today:

We made a flower. We used some tissues and some twisty ties. I used some blue dye. It was for a treat! Then we did our writing. I want to give my flower to my Mum.

Paper Hats

On Friday we made origami hats. We had to write about our experience and check that our writing had 'voice'. No one likes reading boring recounts. Here we are wearing out hats and here is Janet's recount.

Today we made a hat. It was cool. We made it with paper. We did decorations. I like to do it. We did it with our teacher. It was exciting. We all made it together.

Leaf Rubbings

This week, in writing time, we have been writing about an experience. We were learning to use 'voice' in our writing. This means we add detail, say how we were feeling and think about other ways in which we can make our writing exciting. Here is Rachel's recount:

We did leaf rubbings on Wednesday. We picked leaves. We came back to our class. Next we went into groups. We put the leaves under a piece of white paper.
