Nail Rasps

We used hammers and nails to make nail rasps. We played them to the beat too. We were good at using the hammers. Only a few of us had sore fingers. We've had turns at playing the musical glasses in our classroom. Some of us made our own musical glasses at home too.

Musical Instruments

Last week we made our own musical instruments from recycled junk. We used bits and pieces to decorate them. They are great and make wonderful sounds. We can play them to the beat.

Yellow Cellar Slug

We found a slug on the rubbush bin outside. It was long, fat and slimey. We looked on the internet and found a key to help us identify the slug. Mrs Irvine thought it was a tiger slug but it wasn't. Tiger slugs are darker.Yellow cellar slugs eat rotten leaves and food. Maybe it found something delicious near the rubbish bin!

The Gardeners Maze

This week we read a shared book called The Gardener's Maze. At the end of the book the Gardener got stuck in a maze. We designed our own mazes and drew them with chalk on the tennis courts. We tried to get through some of the mazes other children had drawn. We had to be careful because some mazes had dead ends and others had booby traps!

Black Out!

Today is the opening of the Rugby World Cup. There will be an opening ceremony and then Tonga plays the All Blacks. We all wore black to school. Go the All Blacks.

Describing Position

Last week we were learning to use words like: on, underneath, on top, behind, next to, between and in front of to describe the position of an object. We drew maps of our bedrooms in our maths books and recorded our voices to describe the position of the furniture in our rooms. Check out our descriptions.

Describing Position

Last week we learnt to describe our position. One of our independent tasks was to use the digital camera to record our position on the playground. Didn't we do well?
