Keeping Ourselves Safe

Constable Glenys visited us again. She talked to us about how to keep ourselves safe. We discussed touches and also talked about adults we can trust. We know if anything happens that we don't like we can say 'No!' and then we must tell an adult we trust.

Badges

Today we made badges out of safety pins and beads. We used our first initial and some people wrote their whole names. We threaded beads onto the safety pins and when we finished we wrote about what we had done. We could choose how to write. Some of us wrote on the computers, some of us wrote in our books and some of us wrote on whiteboards. We took photos of our work if we wrote on whiteboards. Mrs Irvine was very impressed with our self management. We earnt some marbles and will be choosing a treat soon!

Capacity

We have been learning about capacity. We had to explore the containers in the sand tray and use appropriate language to compare the capacities of two containers.

Ordering by Capacity

This week we have been learning about capacity. We had to work through a list of activities independently whilst Mrs Irvine was working with groups. Capacity means how much a container can hold. One of our activities was to put 3 cups in order of capacity and take a digital photograph. Look at who completed the activitiy correctly!

Popcorn Capacity

We worked with Mrs Reardon today to learn about capacity. We made 3 cones for each of the 3 bears. We had to see which cone could hold the most. Instead of pouring water or sand we poured popcorn! We had heaps of fun and there was popcorn all over the carpet. Yay for vacuum cleaners!

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

For the last couple of weeks we have been retelling fairy tales. We made masks and acted out the fairy tale 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'.
