ipad

We are very lucky because we got to have the ipad that our parents helped us win this week. We have been playing on it and learning on it. At first we played around taking photos using photo booth, but now we can read or listen to some stories on the ipad. We are good at using it and good at taking turns. Next week we will give the ipad to Room 1 to have a go.

Length

This term, in maths, we are reviewing all our learning this year. One of our independent activities was to order the dinosaur bones by length and/ or width. Only some children completed the task and no photographs show that they compared each bone by matching the start of each bone. We are going to try this activity again next week.

Matching

This week one of the circle group's independent task was to show that they could locate and match objects. They had to take a photo of their matches. how do you think they did? Did they achieve the Learning Intention?

ipad

Check our these funny photos we took of ourselves using the ipad. This is the first time we have had it in our classroom and we managed to use it straight away. It was fun! After the holidays we will find ways to use the ipad for Reading, Writing and Maths.

Worm Animation

Here are the worm animations we made yesterday. They are very good for our first independent try at making an animation. Our voice overs, also recorded independently after writing our stories are pretty good too. Many of us could read our writing fluently. See if you can spot some hands in the photos! See if you can see where we accidently moved the camera.

Symmetry Photographs

This week we had to complete a set of symmetry tasks. We know we have understood about symmetry when we can find the line of symmetry in objects or say that the object is not symmetrical. One of the activities we had to complete was to use the mirrors to 'fix' some broken pictures of different objects. If the picture looked whole again in the mirror we know we had found the line of symmetry. We took all the pictures and completed this activity independently whilst Mrs Irvine worked with a group.

Sasa

This afternoon, just for fun, we went to visit Room 20. The children in Room 20 taught us a Samoan sasa that they learnt from youtube. A sasa uses different sounds like clapping and slapping to make a beat. You also move your body, arms and head too. It was fun. We practised a bit more in our classroom too and maybe will film our sasa when we get really good at it.

Making an Animation

Today we wanted to do something a little bit different for writing. We made worms or snails out of plasticine then we wrote a story about our worms on our whiteboards. We recorded our stories onto the easi-speak. Then we then worked in pairs to take lots of photographs of our worms. The photographs can be joined together and played quickly to make it look like our worms are moving by themselves. This is called an animation. Watch this space for our worm and snail animations!

Making Seahorses

We're lucky to have Mrs Reardon as one of our teachers. She plans fun activities. Today we got to make seahorses out of playdough and then clay. The playdough seahorses let us practise getting a nice shapes and some nice patterns.
