Our Doggy Visitors

Today was so much fun. We had some dogs come to school to help us practise our dog safety skills. Corban's dog Rocky came, so did Winnie, Poppy, Stanley, Ashton and many more. The important rules are:

Check it's sweet before you meet.

To understand they sniff your hand.

Chin or chest - thats the best.

To meet a pup, ask a grown-up.

If a dog has a snack, keep well back.

Keep your face out of their space.

Don't run and shout, it freaks us out.

A dog's not a toy - don't tease or annoy.

Quiet and slow - that's the way to go.

Buddy Reading

On Friday Room 13 came to visit us. They are going to be our buddy readers. We read to them and they read to us. We will start buddy reading every Friday to help us improve our reading. We were wearing our art shirts, ready to begin our paper mache.

Halves

The circle group made this cool rap to help us learn and remember our halves. We are very good at our doubles and if we know our doubles we should also know our halves!

Ronald McDonald and Road Safety

Today Ronald McDonald came to talk to us about road safety. He was very funny and even the teachers laughed. We got to choose whether we would like to write a recount, a report, a fairy tale or instructions about Ronald at writing time. Here are some of the fantastic pieces of writing we did and here is a little clip of Ronald's visit.

I saw Ronald McDonald. He lost his socks and he found a seatbelt and he said to put your hands up. He read a story and he kept on saying swimming pools. He was funny. We were laughing. He kept clapping his hands and he kept asking the teacher five times.

Dinosaur Reports

Today we had to think about all the facts we had learnt about dinosaurs and use them to write a descriptive report. People who read our reports will learn lots of new information about dinosaurs. Here some awesome reports.

More models

Can you guess which dinosaur we made today? Stegosaurus of course! Can you see the plates along our models backs? Look at Corban's Pteranodon. He got the shape of the skull just right!

Rhyming Words

Another one of our jobs this week was to make a list of rhyming words. If you can rhyme words and make word families by rhyming you can spell and read lots of words.

Doubles Song #2

Check out this version of our doubles song. The voices were recorded independently. Welldone Ashiv and Kaya!

Dinosaur Models

We had to find key words in a book to answer the question: 'What did Tyrannosaurus Rex look like?' We used our key words to help us make a model of T.Rex. Look at our awesome models. It was tricky making them 3D. Can you spot the dinosaur eating another dinosaur? Can you see the dinosaur chasing his next meal?

Healthy Food Songs

For the first two weeks of the term we were learning about healthy food. This week we had to work in groups to write our own song about healthy food. We had to practise and then perform our song in front of the video camera. We had to do it independently.
